Ribbons flowed

Like gold and blue rivers

A hall swathed in silky rivers

The lights roamed lazily over

The lazy crowd

Feasting on the victories of

An immediate past

The front rows harboured

Stars of a past glow

That reverbated into the shining present

A ghost of pride spinned over their golden faces

The faces that the entire nation will look up to

And I melted

Among the glit and gold.

They carried volumes of

Gold-glided velvetted history books

Under their armpits

And I

Had but a single letter of recommendation

Signed in golden ink

They had before them

Gold and glory and trophies to testify

And I

Had but a dead shadow of distant fireflies

I...I am not

They...they are

How come I came to sit

On the front row

I don't know

Destiny do tell.

The event flowed

Smooth oil oozed through

The voluptuous lectures

And we dozed

Over the pillowy words

Fat with vanity and richness

A sense of height and superiority

Carried their words, sentences

Punctuations and exclamations

The event flowed

In smooth velocity.
